Most Beautiful Roses You Can Buy

While you might think that there’s just one type of rose, there are actually so many different kinds with a variety of looks and colors. Obviously, everyone loves roses – but do you really know what to look for when you’re shopping around for the best ones? Unless you’re a hard-core gardener, you might not know all of the different types out there. Thankfully, we are here to go over some of our favorite types of roses and what makes them unique. And even though everyone has their personal favorites, here are some of the most beautiful roses you can buy:

Hybrid Tea Roses

Hybrid tea roses are a group of garden roses that are extremely popular due to their long stems that feature large flowers with high but open centers. They began in the 1800s in France as a hybrid between the hybrid perpetual rose with the traditional tea rose. They later evolved into the most popular type of rose in the world due to their elegant beauty and fragrance.

Floribunda Roses

Floribunda roses are another type of garden rose that is also a hybrid! Floribunda roses are a hybrid cross between hybrid tea roses with polyantha roses that was introduced in Denmark in the early 1900s. They are smaller and bushier than hybrid teas, and they tend to grow in clusters, unlike hybrid teas that only form a single bloom on each stem. The “abundant” nature in which they bloom makes them a great garden rose that will provide a lot of bright color to any area.

Grandiflora Roses

Moving on to grandiflora roses – which is a cross between a hybrid tea rose and a floribunda rose. Clearly, people just loved crossing roses to create beautiful hybrids – but we can’t say we don’t approve of the outcome! Grandiflora roses often feature large blooms like hybrid teas but tend to cluster like floribundas. The “grand” nature of these blooms make them great for floral arrangements in addition to garden placement.

Damask Roses

Damask roses are one of the world’s oldest rose varieties – we aren’t talking the 1900s here, we are talking about nearly 1,000 years of history! They get their name from Damascus, Syria, where they are well-known. They are a hybrid between the French rose and the musk rose. Even though these roses are smaller than other types, they have remained extremely popular due to their amazing fragrance and their light pink coloring.

English Roses

English roses were created in England. We all know that England loves their flowers, but did you know that the rose is the official flower of the United Kingdom? Even though the English rose is more of a newcomer (created around the 1950s), they have a thick and full appearance since they are a cross between the classic tea rose and old-world roses. These lovely roses look fluffy and soft with tons of petals – making them super popular in American floral arrangements these days.

Noisette Roses

The only stateside rose on this list is the noisette rose. This rose variety was created in South Carolina in the early 1800s as a cross between a China rose and a musk rose. This cross created an incredible climbing rose variety that contains large clusters of smaller blooms that range in color from pink to orange and yellow. These Southern born-and-bred blooms make a great addition to any backyard garden or indoor floral arrangement.

Eternal Roses

Eternal roses are a special type of rose that is different from all the others that have been previously discussed. This is because eternal roses are dehydrated and then preserved with oils and wax that preserve their natural beauty while allowing them to retain that beauty for a lot longer than regular roses. For example, regular roses might last up to two weeks with careful care and maintenance. Eternal roses, on the other hand, are roses that last a year in their original box with no need for maintenance other than an occasional dusting! There’s no need to water, feed, trim, prune, or any of that. This makes them the perfect gift for those who might not have much of a green thumb or those who you would like to gain long-term joy and happiness from such a beautiful floral arrangement.

While you can’t really go wrong with roses as a gift, educating yourself on the different types of roses is a great way to make sure that you find the best possible options. So before you click “purchase” on a simple bouquet of standard roses, it might be beneficial for you to explore some of the other options that are a little less standard but still extremely beautiful! This is especially true if you are looking for a wow-worthy gift that makes a statement and is long-lasting.
